What Is The Inclusion Coach Program?

The Inclusion Coach Program is designed to support child care educators in creating inclusive environments where all children, regardless of ability, can thrive. Inclusion Coaches work directly with educators, providing guidance, practical strategies, and tailored resources to help them meet the diverse needs of children in their care.

Inclusion Coaches empower educators with hands-on coaching, strategies, resources, and professional learning to support children of all abilities.

The Inclusion Coach will work collaboratively with educators and families to support children with developmental delays, high medical needs, continuous needs (i.e. positioning, mobility, daily needs), or challenging behaviours.

Inclusion Coaches model, coach, and educate utilizing a strength-based approach that is rooted and supported by “How Does Learning Happen?”.

Benefits Of A Referral To The
InclusionCoach Program

1. Coaching - Capacity building of educators on strategies, coaching, and inclusion practices.

2. Strategies & Resources - Collaborating on general strategies and resources to support children in child care & EarlyON Programs

3. Professional Development - Provide professional development and building on existing capacity of child care/EarlyON programs; Professional Learning can be tailored to support a child's unique inclusion needs.

4. Environment/Pedagogy Support- Adaptation suggestions to child care/EarlyON Programs environment/pedagogy to include all children within the program.

5. Enhanced Support - Can be requested if deemed required and if funding is available.

6. Transition To School - Transition to school support is done in collaboration with families, child care, Inclusion Coach, and school boards.

7. Developmental Assessments- Completion of ASQ's by Inclusion Coaches, who are trained facilitators. Referrals to appropriate community agencies can be made in collaboration with child care, EarlyON Programs, and families.

8. Developmental Inclusion Plans - If child has complex inclusion needs, a Developmental Inclusion Plan will be created to provide developmental strategies to be implemented in child care and at home.

Referral Process:

Referrals for the Inclusion Coach Program must be submitted by licensed child care programs or EarlyON Programs. If your program is seeking guidance on inclusive practices or to support a child’s unique needs, our Inclusion Coaches are here to provide hands-on support, professional development, and tailored strategies to help educators meet the diverse needs of the children in their care.

For Child Care Programs who do not have a child who requires a referral to the IC Program, they can access capacity building for educators on strategies, coaching, professional learning and inclusion practices by contacting Family Space to complete a Request For Support.
